Why We Built PixelTools

In early 2024, our founder Alex was building an ecommerce store and spending 20+ minutes every day compressing and resizing product photos. Every tool he tried either uploaded files to unknown servers, imposed frustrating limits, or required a $20/month subscription just to resize a JPEG.

So he built a simple browser-based compressor for himself. Then a resizer. Then a converter. Within a few months, he had 18 tools — all running entirely in the browser, all completely free, all private.

PixelTools launched publicly in mid-2024. Today it serves thousands of users daily — from solo Etsy sellers to web development agencies — all getting professional image processing without paying a cent or uploading a single file to a server.
